ADVANCED PROCEDURES

Advanced Procedures using Dermal Fillers:

Peri-oral (lip) lines are the vertical lines that form around the mouth as we age. They are commonly referred to as ‘Smoker’s lines’, as they are generally more pronounced in those who smoke due to repeated pursing of the lips when smoking cigarettes. However, not only smokers will suffer from these lines, with many people developing them naturally as they age. Filler can be placed underneath these lines to lift the creases, subtly smoothing out their appearance.

As we age we lose volume in the hands, with veins, bones and other structures becoming more prominent as a result. These features can often give away somebody’s age, even if you have had other treatments in the face and neck. Hand rejuvenation is performed using a semi-permanent filler, meaning results are longer lasting than most other fillers, with an average time reported as between 12 and 15 months. Numerous superficial injections are performed to deliver the filler, with the product then being massaged into the back of the hand to smooth out creases and replenish lost volume.

Often referred to as “the 15 minute nose job”. This procedure involves placing filler in various areas of the nose, often leading to a dramatically improved profile. Common features that this treatment can address include bumps, hook shaped nose, drooping tips and flat noses. Not only is this ground-breaking procedure generally a safer and much cheaper alternative to surgical rhinoplasty, but it also comes with minimal downtime, meaning you can return to your usual daily activities straight away! Results can be expected to last between 12 and 18 months.

The tear trough is the area directly under the eye. Having deep hollows in the tear troughs often results in the dreaded “dark circle” appearance of the eye, due to shadowing. Filler can be carefully placed in this area to restore volume and reduce shadowing, resulting in a more ‘awake’ and rejuvenated appearance.

This procedure involves the careful placement of filler to define and sculpt the perfect jawline, creating aesthetically pleasing angles. Jawline Augmentation can often be combined with other treatments such as Chin and Cheek Augmentation, for a full ‘facial contouring’ transformation.

This procedure involves the careful placement of filler into the chin area, to increase length, protrusion, or both. It can also be used to ease the appearance of ‘jowls’ (sagging skin below the chin and jawline). Chin Augmentation can often be combined with other treatments such as Jawline and Cheek Augmentation, for a full ‘facial contouring’ transformation.

Advanced Procedures using Botulinum Toxin Injections:

The mentalis muscle, the main muscle in the chin, can be hyperactive or too large in some people. In addition to this, some people experience chronic spasm of the muscle, creating a ‘dimpled/pebblestone’ appearance, often referred to as ‘orange peel chin’. These unwanted features can be corrected with the administration of Botulinum Toxin injections to the chin muscle responsible.

This is the non-surgical treatment used for people suffering with eyebrow heaviness, who wish to lift the resting position of their eyebrow. Botulinum Toxin injections can be carefully injected into the muscles that pull down on the lateral aspect of the eyebrow, resulting in the muscles that lift the eyebrow working relatively unopposed. This results in a lift to the resting position of the outer aspect and arch of the eyebrow, creating a more youthful and awake appearance. This is a treatment often used as an alternative to the surgical brow lift, or else as a pre-surgical treatment to ensure you will like the result of surgery, which is of course a more invasive option.

A gummy smile occurs when the top lip rises well above the teeth when smiling, exposing the upper gums. This is easily fixed via the use of Botulinum Toxin injections, which slightly relax the hyperactive muscles responsible for lifting the top lip, preventing them from causing the lip to rise as much. The result is a natural, more relaxed smile, without any unwanted overexposure of the gums.

A downturned mouth occurs when the muscles that join the corners of the mouth to the jawline are overpowering, resulting in the corners of the mouth being pulled downwards. Sufferers often complain that this effect causes them to look ‘sad’, as the mouth is downturned despite being in a relaxed state. Botulinum Toxin injections can be used in this situation to relax these overpowering muscles, meaning that the smile points upwards instead, resulting in a more natural/youthful appearance.

The platysma are two strips of muscle that start at the base of the neck, before running up the front and sides, right up to the jawline. These muscles play a very important role in the appearance of the neck. As we age, these vertical ‘platysmal bands’ as they are called, often become more prominent, giving an aged, and often unsightly, appearance. Botulinum Toxin injections can be used to relax these muscle bands, making the bands less obvious, and hence creating a firmer, younger looking neck.

Egyptian Queen Nefertiti has always been the benchmark of a beautiful, smooth neck, which is why this new technique using Botulinum Toxin injections has been named after her. The Nefertiti lift involves placing multiple injections of toxin along the lower jawline in addition to down the side of the neck along the platysmal muscles. This results in improved definition of the jawline, and provides a lifted appearance in the entire upper neck area.

Bruxism is the involuntary grinding of teeth, which typically occurs during sleep. Botulinum Toxin injections can be carefully injected into the masseter facial muscle, which is mainly responsible for this grinding, in order to ease the symptoms.

A wide-set jaw is often the result of an over-developed masseter muscle. Botulinum Toxin injections can be used to reduce the size of this muscle, resulting in a contoured, slimmer, and V-shaped face that is often much desired.

Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition resulting in excessive sweating, most commonly experienced in the armpits. Botulinum Toxin can be injected into the skin layer that holds the sweat glands, significantly reducing the amount of sweat that is produced.
